A day in the life...

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in the life of a ghostwriter and editor? It’s not all coffee shops and tapping away on a keyboard like in the movies. Let me take you through a day in my life, giving you a glimpse into the unique and often quirky world of crafting stories for others.

My day starts early, usually around 6:30 AM. I like to ease into the morning with a cup of coffee and a good book—something completely unrelated to my work. It’s a small ritual that wakes up my brain and gets my creative juices flowing. By 7:30, I’m at my desk, ready to dive into the day’s projects. First up, I review my to-do list from the night before. I’m a firm believer in planning ahead, so I jot down my top priorities and any looming deadlines. This helps me stay focused and ensures that I don’t miss anything important. Once I have my game plan, I check my emails, responding to clients and setting up any necessary calls for the day.

A big part of my job is communicating with clients. Each client is different, with unique needs and preferences. Some like detailed updates, while others prefer to be more hands-off. Early in the day, I schedule a few calls to touch base with clients, discuss their vision, and ensure we’re on the same page. Confidentiality is key in my line of work. As a ghostwriter, I often write under someone else’s name, so building trust is essential. I assure my clients that their secrets are safe with me, creating a comfortable space for them to share their stories. This trust is the foundation of a successful ghostwriting relationship.

As a ghostwriter and editor, I often juggle multiple projects at once. Organization is crucial. I use a combination of digital tools and old-fashioned sticky notes to keep track of everything. Each project has its own timeline, and I make sure to allocate time slots for writing, editing, and client feedback. It’s a bit like spinning plates. You have to keep an eye on all of them, giving each one the attention it needs without letting any of them fall. This can be stressful at times, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. There’s a thrill in managing multiple narratives and seeing each one come to life.

By the end of the day, usually around 6 PM, I like to take a moment to reflect. I review what I’ve accomplished, make notes on any outstanding tasks, and plan for the next day. This winding down process helps me close the chapter on one day and gear up for the next. Plus, it gives me a sense of satisfaction, knowing that I’ve helped bring someone’s story to life. Then, it's time to relax, maybe with another book or a bit of TV, before getting a good night's sleep, ready to do it all over again tomorrow.

And that’s a day in my life as a ghostwriter and editor. It’s a blend of creativity, communication, and a lot of coffee, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Until next time... XOXO ~Ovni
